Om du står på en scen och drar skämt så är det ju kul om publiken drar på smilbanden om det du säger är roligt. Om ansiktet är fullt med botox på de som sitter i publiken kanske de där smilbanden inte jobbar så mycket och det kanske blir svårare att visa att man tyckte skämtet var skojsamt. Det är i alla fall något som ägaren av den brittiska standup-klubben The top secret comedy club har reagerat på. Därför har han nu valt att förbjuda gäster med botox att komma till klubben, eftersom både han och komikerna säger sig ha tröttnat på uttryckslösa gäster i publiken som inte reagerar på skämten.

"Our incredibly talented comedians are fed up with performing to reactionless faces. I've had numerous complaints from performers who find it increasingly challenging to gauge audience engagement and bounce off their reactions. Comedy thrives on connection, and facial expressions play a huge part. We want people to laugh, cry, frown, sneer, but frozen faces from Botox impact the entire atmosphere. We hope trialling this ban will help move the needle and get facial reactions back into the room – for the benefit of our comedians and the audience. We’re dead serious about the ban and if you're surprised we need to see that! We are looking forward to welcoming faces old and new, that can still move, in our venue soon."
