I dag är det World Sight Day och för att uppmärksamma och fira detta presenterar Omega en ny specialversion av klockan Speedmaster 38. Men vad har den att göra med de som är blinda eller har nedsatt syn? Jo, den stödjer nämligen varumärkespartnerskapet med Orbis International som är en ideell organisation som koncentrerar sig på att förebygga blindhet och andra ögonsjukdomar i U-länder.

Klockan som får tilläggsnamnet Orbis har en boett i rostfritt stål och som vi kan se en blå urtavla med en blå tachymeterskala utanför. På insidan jobbar urverket Omega Co-Axial Calibre 3330.

Priset är satt till 43 300 kronor och en del av pengarna den drar in kommer att doneras till Orbis International.

Presley Gerber unveils the new OMEGA watch in support of Orbis

Just days after joining the OMEGA family, Presley Gerber takes on a role that would make his mother Cindy Crawford very proud: the unveiling of the Speedmaster 38 mm “Orbis” To celebrate World Sight Day on October 12th, OMEGA is proud to unveil a specially created model from its new Speedmaster 38 mm collection that supports the brand’s partnership with Orbis International.

The OMEGA Speedmaster 38 mm “Orbis” watch features a stainless steel case and bezel with a tachymeter scale on a blue aluminium ring. The sun-brushed blue dial includes horizontal, light-blue oval subdials and a vertical oval date window at 6 o’clock. The indexes are rhodium-plated while the hands are also rhodium-plated or varnished Orbis blue. The watch has a stainless steel bracelet and is driven by the OMEGA Co-Axial Calibre 3330. Since 2011, OMEGA and Orbis have shared a commitment to delivering high-level eye care to some of the world's most remote regions. Aboard its Flying Eye Hospital, Orbis has successfully carried out programs in more than 90 countries across the globe and, not only has it performed millions of medical and optical treatments, the organisation has also dedicated itself to training new eye care professionals. Presley Gerber's role in the unveiling of the watch is fitting, as the charity is very close to his mother Cindy Crawford's heart. The long-time OMEGA ambassador visited the Orbis International team two years ago in Peru and was deeply moved to see how the lives of the young patients were changed by the work of the Orbis healthcare professionals. Her experiences were captured in a documentary titled "The Hospital in the Sky" in which she describes the Flying Eye Hospital as "an aircraft that can perform miracles". One way that OMEGA supports Orbis is by providing a cuddly teddy bear for every young patient who undergoes a life-changing treatment. That comforting touch was the inspiration for the Orbis Teddy Bear design stamped on the caseback of the Speedmaster 38 mm “Orbis” watch and the blue central seconds hand that includes a special Orbis Teddy Bear counter-weight.
